Meet the team
Heather (@heath_gerrie) completed her BSc in Neuroscience at Dalhousie University in 2018. Currently a graduate student in the MacVicar lab at UBC, Heather’s research investigates calcium signaling in microglia. She is an avid explorer of the brain, the outdoors, and sustainable living.
Amanda (@NeurosciAmanda) received her HBSc in Neuroscience and Physiology from the University of Toronto in 2017. She is currently a PhD student with Dr. Brian Kwon at ICORD, working on developing a novel optical sensor to monitor the injured spinal cord. Amanda is a competitive dragon boat athlete and she enjoys training, paddling on the water and being in the mountains.
Doris (@_DorisChow) is a postdoctoral researcher in the Oculomotor Lab at UBC, working with Dr. Miriam Spering to develop assessment tools for motion sensitivity using eye movements. She received her PhD in Developmental and Brain Sciences from the University of Massachusetts, Boston, USA, investigating multisensory perception in babies, children, and adults. Doris used to play taiko (Japanese drumming), loves reading, and is a newbie in urban-gardening.
Hannah (@animusawakening) completed her BSc in Physics in Melbourne, Australia. A graduate of SFU’s The Writer’s Studio (2016), she loves writing, editing, education and research. She has a handful of published short stories and poems to date, and is currently a graduate student with Dr. Ruth Grunau at the BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute, where her research focuses on developmental neuroscience of children born very preterm.
