Tuition and fees

For most programs, graduate tuition is assessed as an annual program fee, which is divided into three equal installments due at the beginning of academic terms starting in September, January, and May. This fee is the same regardless of how many course credits you are registered in.

Online programs charge tuition on a per-credit or per-course basis.

Current tuition fees for all graduate programs can be found in the Graduate Degree Program listing and the UBC Calendar online:

There is a minimum funding stipend provided by each supervisor.  For more information, please visit Minimum Funding for Students.  For both MSc and PhD students, the Department follows a minimum funding support guideline. For PhD students, from September 2021, the stipend is $22,000 per annum for four years. For MSc students, the stipend is $18,500 per annum for two years. This stipend can come in any form (for example – scholarship, TA-ship, grant funding, or a combination). At the time of admission, all supervisors are required to fill out a funding commitment form for each student they supervise and send to ubc.neuroscience@ubc.ca
